bluessmyth Biography

After two successful CDs, bluessmyth has released its third album entitled Sola Gratia. This powerful recording from the Canadian trio includes Hurricane Katrina, reaching out in despair, soul searching, and finding redemption as riveting and introspective topics.

The name of the group (and their second CD), bluessmyth combines the words blues and smyth (or smith) as the symbolic forging of the roots of blues music with heavy, metallic overtones, and gospel & soul influences. bluessmyth consists of creators beyond the confines of one genre. Sola Gratia explores different styles including a fusion of latin and rock influences in "Snake in the Satellite", while keeping true to their soulful blues roots in "Walk in My Shoes". Incorporating a rock and slide guitar blues fusion in "Down on My Luck", with a beautiful ballad about drug abuse in "Rosemary's blues", this album covers the gamut of the human experience.

Produced by Mark Berry (YES, Duran Duran, Carly Simon, David Bowie) at The Beach studio in Calgary, this remarkable album is a must have for any music lover. If you like the recordings, you will Love the live show! The dynamic of bluessmyth has evolved with new drummer Celene Yohemas on board. Meshing seamlessly with the solid, virtuosic funky bass lines of Jason Yaholkoski, and supporting soulful singer and guitarist Chris Yaholkoski, the new dynamic is a recipe for international success.
