Biography

The Swedish quintet consists of members in their early-to-mid twenties, but their lyrics and music are wise beyond their years. “It comes from the music we listen to and are inspired by,” says lead guitarist, Jonas Öhlund. “Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Dallas Frazier and Hank Cochran are tremendous North American influences; and their styles certainly transcend into our music.”

Southern Skyline’s brand of “old soul and heartbroken country” is no accident. The band loves a good ol’ hurtin’ tune. “We don’t like songs that have happy endings. You’ll hear a lot of broken hearted, cheatin’ themed stories in our lyrics,” says Öhlund. That’s what makes Southern Skyline’s modern take on a traditional sound so mesmerizing: While the lyrics may be down on yer’ luck, you’ll be up on yer’ feet dancing to the band’s rockabilly, roots and traditional country infused music.
