Bring your spoons, spirit and stompin’ boots to the Prairie Kitchen Party
Featuring members of The Duhks and more!
(April 26, 2011 – Winnipeg, MB) – It’s a prairie kitchen party and everyone is invited. Showcasing some of Manitoba’s best folk and roots musicians, the Prairie Kitchen Party will feature Manitoba songwriting and storytelling at its finest. And, just like a real kitchen party, it promises to be a foot stomping, sing-a-long good time – all in an intimate setting at the West End Cultural Centre on Tuesday May 24, 2011.
Who:
- Jessee Havey & Scott Senior featuring Leonard Podolak & Jordon McConnel of The Duhks
- Emma Cloney & Dan Frechette
- Patti Lamoureux featuring Jeremy Rusu & Dan Frechette
- The Old No.3 Trio
When: Tuesday May 24, 2011
Where: ‘kitchen table’ AKA West End Cultural Centre, 586 Ellice Avenue
Time: Doors open at 7:00 pm / Show time at 8:00 pm
Tickets: $15 in advance or $20 at the door
Organizers are bringing in everything and a kitchen sink – which will be used to collect tickets at the door. Concert goers are invited to bring spoons to tap along to the tunes and will be encouraged – even coaxed – into singing along with the performers on stage. To set the scene, the stage will be transformed into a kitchen setting, complete with gingham draped lovingly over the front of the stage, a kitchen table and more. Refreshments and drinks, including a variety of bottles marked "xxx" for those who are 18 and over, will be served.
The idea for the Prairie Kitchen Party came one night at an actual raucous kitchen party on Emma Cloney’s ranch in Woodlands, Manitoba. “Nothing embraces the kindred spirit of musicianship quite like jamming in the kitchen,” explains Emma. “So many great songs and stories start in the kitchen. We all thought it would be an amazing night of music to share the kitchen party experience with others.”
Tickets for the Prairie Kitchen party can be purchased for $15 in advance at the WECC box office, Kustom Kulture, Into The Music, Music Trader and the Winnipeg Folk Festival Music Store. Otherwise, tickets are $20 at the door.
