Mark DeJong Brings His Electrifying Jazz Show to Alberta
(Winnipeg, MB – October 8, 2009) Canada’s current buzz band of the jazz scene, Mark DeJong and the Outer Bridge Ensemble, will bring its experimental and electrifying brand of music to Alberta in early November.

Front man Mark DeJong is not only one of Canada’s finest tenor sax players, he is also a Western Canadian Music Awards nominee (for his latest recording, The Unknown, released on Calgary’s Chronograph Records). DeJong is part of the jazz aristocracy of the Great White North. He teaches jazz studies at the University of Saskatoon, graduated from Rutgers University (New Jersey) with a master’s degree in Jazz Studies, and is the former artistic director of the Saskatoon Jazz Society.
DeJong’s star cast, the Outer Bridge Ensemble, features players like bassist Simon Fisk, drummer Jerome Jennings, percussionist David Freeman, and pianist Steve Hudson.
With a mix of free form jazz and well-loved standards, the show is sure to please both casual and intensely passionate jazz lovers.
