High School Students Inspired to be “Leaders of Change” by
Free the Children musical ambassadors, Keith and Renee
(Winnipeg, MB – September 15, 2009) Students from 80 high schools across Canada are about to get an uplifting treat to supplement their studies this school year – a visit from Free The Children music ambassadors, Keith and Renee (www.keithandrenee.com).
On September 15, a nation-wide event called The We Generation Tour (sponsored by Investors Group) commences in select Canadian high schools. During the tour, students will hear an empowering message about how they can be leaders of change in their own communities and abroad. The message comes from the well-known Canadian pop/rock duo, who have direct experience helping make the world a better place.
Keith and Renee spent the summer of 2009 in Kenya, Africa alongside Craig and Marc Keilburger – founders of Canadian children’s charity, Free The Children. Keith and Renee participated in the Adopt a Village program, meeting local families who have been affected by severe poverty.
“After experiencing what we did in Africa, I believe it is our responsibility as songwriters and artists to raise awareness about these inequalities and encourage the upcoming generation to work towards building a better future for our world,” says singer, Keith Macpherson.
During The We Generation Tour, Keith and Renee will share songs and stories about their African experience. “Every one of us can make a difference and be the change we want to see in the world,” explains Renee Lamoureux.
The tour comes at a time when the Canadian duo is preparing for its upcoming CD release - Detours – set for release in early 2010. Keith and Renee are already well known among the high school scene for their single, “Good Year”, which was placed in Canadian Idol, Degrassi: The Next Generation and an International AT & T Commerical.
