Canada’s busiest pop/rock duo plays Toronto’s Cameron House
Keith and Renee debut songs from their new CD, Detours

(May 5, 2010 – Winnipeg, MB) After playing for African school children in Kenya, and performing for thousands of Canadian school children in the past year, Keith and Renee are set to launch Detours – their fourth studio album. The much anticipated show happens at the Cameron House in Toronto on Friday May 28, 2010.

Keith and Renee’s Toronto show follows on the heels of an incredibly busy year for the Winnipeg-based pop/rock pair. They performed at 80 Canadian high schools as part of a nationwide event called The We Tour, staged by humanitarian organization, Free the Children. The high school tour allowed Keith and Renee to share their experiences as Free the Children’s musical ambassadors in Africa – where they spent the summer of 2009 participating in the Adopt a Village program.

In January, Keith and Renee were selected as the musical ambassadors for Manitoba Homecoming 2010. Their song “Good Year” is the official theme song for Manitoba’s year-long homecoming celebrations, alongside Bachman Turner Overdrive’s “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.”

Show details:

When:             10:30 p.m., Friday May 28, 2010
Where:            The Cameron House (408 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON)

KEITH AND RENEE BACKGROUNDER

Independent musicians are always looking for new ways to get their music to the masses, but few are willing to go to the great lengths Winnipeg’s Keith and Renee have. Two years ago, the duo embarked on a partnership with Free the Children - a humanitarian organization that empowers children in North America to take action to improve the lives of fellow children overseas. Keith and Renee traveled to Kenya, Africa to see firsthand how Free the Children has helped kids get access to new schools and clean drinking water. Upon their return to Canada, Keith and Renee got unprecedented access to the very influential teen market by performing to thousands of students at high schools across Canada in support of Free the Children.

The partnership has been a tremendous success. Free the Children now has relentless new ambassadors while Keith and Renee get to perform to tens of thousands of students. Along the way, the Winnipeg duo found something unexpectedly profound - genuine humility. “When we first partnered with Free the Children we knew it was a great organization to align ourselves with. That was confirmed after traveling to Kenya and meeting the people who benefited from Free the Children. It changed our lives forever, too,” says Renee Lamoureux. “The people in Kenya are gracious, genuine and grateful, we felt very humbled by their presence. It inspired us deeply and gave our music a heightened sense of importance,” adds Keith Macpherson.

As for the tandem’s fourth studio album, Keith Macpherson and Renée Lamoureux arrived at the aptly title Detours after ten years, hundreds of gigs, three albums and captivating legions of loyal fans who have purchased thousands of their CDs. Keith and Renée’s music can also be heard in commercials for AT&T, TV shows including, Degrassi The Next Generation; and in movies such as Degrassi Goes Hollywood and the USA Hallmark movie - For the Love of Grace.  Additionally, the duo has had its music placed in Radio Free Roscoe, 15 Love, Battle of The Sexes, The Real World, This Is Emily Yeung and 22 MPH. On the radio, Keith and Renée received airplay on a number of commercial and college stations across North America complemented by national exposure on CBC radio.
