Winnipeg’s Favourite Musical Duo Go Country
Keith and Renée Introduce New Sound at CD Release Party
(August 18, 2011 – Winnipeg, MB) - Winnipeg’s favourite pop duo has gone a little bit country. Keith and Renée’s fifth CD Best Daydemonstrates a natural progression of their sound, inspired by their tours in the U.S. and Africa.
Best Day will be launched at a CD release party at the West End Cultural Centre on Friday September 16th at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. The CD’s title track was released to radio in early July and is already receiving spins on country radio stations across the country and on CBC Radio.
“We always try to capture something new to keep our career fresh and interesting. Going pop/country wasn't really planned—it was just natural for us to try country,” says Renée Lamoureux. “We love to sing about our personal stories. The people we've encountered, how they've played a role in our lives, what we've experienced.”
The duo has experienced more in the last fifteen years than most of us do in a lifetime. From spending two summers in Kenya as ambassadors for Free the Children, to Keith Macpherson’s stint on Canadian Idol and having their song Good Year chosen as the theme for Manitoba’s 2010 Homecoming campaign, they’ve come a long way from their first awkward meeting at a church in Ile des Chenes.
“Our new album has many themes that speak of finding happiness in each moment,” Macpherson explains. “I attribute this lesson and message to the friends we made on our trips overseas.”
