James Struthers and Hayley Gene play The Painted Lady on Sunday January 22
(January 16, 2012 - Winnipeg, Manitoba) Hot on the heels of a hit single and viral video, singer-songwriters James Struthers will join musician Hayley Gene for a Toronto showcase at The Painted Lady (218 Ossington Avenue, Toronto) on Sunday January 22, 2012.

Toronto music fans may be familiar with James Struthers work, following the success of his recent single, Blue Christmas, which hit the Top Ten in the national Adult Contemporary radio charts. Struthers’ cover version of the song popularized by Elvis Presley, peaked at #8 in December, putting the 23-year-old Winnipeg musician in the leagues of Michael Buble and Justin Bieber.
In the meantime, Struthers’ video for his Transformers-inspired, self-written song You, Me and Optimus Prime has reached more than 177,000 youtube views. The video was also recently featured by famed radio host Alan Cross, and gadget news site, Gizmodo (one of the Top 50 most visited websites in the world).
Gravitating to all things musical, Hayley Gene has grown into a confident, talented songwriter and performer. Her lyrics are poetic, her melodies memorable and her voice clearly engages the soul. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Hayley Gene began her musical career with a capella quartet The 4 Corners. Hayley Gene and The 4 Corners have toured across Canada performing with her father Fred Penner and that experience has greatly influenced her musical career and encouraged her to begin her own journey.

James Struthers, a Winnipeg born singer/songwriter who has toured the country five times, released two EPs, four music videos, and has cracked the Canadian AC charts with his festive single ‘Blue Christmas’ in under two years. James and Western Canadian Music Awards’ Producer Of The Year Arun Chaturvedi are working on a full length album to be released in the spring, accompanied by North American tour dates. Spending the last two years writing electronic pop songs with her band, "TUZO", Hayley Gene is now focusing on her solo project.
