Winnipeg spoken-word and R&B artist set to release CD amid spectacle of music, fashion and culture; a portion of proceeds to Laurel Centre of Winnipeg

 

 

(Winnipeg, MB – September 1, 2009) Ingrid D. Johnson will release her much anticipated compilation CD – “Wounded Soul” Volumes One and Two - accompanied by some of the city’s most vibrant musicians at a CD release party in Winnipeg. A portion of the proceeds from each CD sold goes to The Laurel Centre in Winnipeg that counsels women survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

When: Saturday September 12, 2009
Where: Winnipeg Art Gallery  (300 Memorial Boulevard)
Time: 8 pm - 2 a.m. (Doors open at 7:30 pm)
Admission: $30.00 in advance / $35.00 at the Door
(Admission includes signed CD, raffle draw and appetizers!)

In addition to the debut of poems and songs from “Wounded Soul” Volumes One and Two, the evening offers live performances showcasing various accomplished musicians, innovative dancers, unique fashion displays, inspiring messages and plenty of wisdom.

Ingrid D. Johnson, a sexual abuse survivor, considers her self a “voice for the voiceless” and uses her music and poetry to inspire survivors to overcome sexual abuse. She has the support and admiration of many of Winnipeg’s top musical artists – some of whom perform on the CD including, Maiko Watson (Sugar Jones, Remy Shand) and Arun Chaturvedi (CBG Artist Development, Driver).

Ingrid will also be backed up on stage for her CD release party by her band “The Funky Fresh Crew".  Other songs written by Ingrid D. Johnson will be performed at the event by local artists (Flo, Ndu Fenom, Anomolie, Neal Pinto, Tara De Castro, Joe Curtis, Frank Rizzuto and Papa Ev).
