North meets south on Cat Jahnke’s 2011 summer tour

(August 10, 2011 - Winnipeg, MB) – Winnipeg pop-folk artist, Cat Jahnke, is heading out on tour this summer with New York’s Clair Reilly-Roe – giving the American musician a unique  experience in Canadian touring. The travelling tandem will hit over a dozen venues throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia in just over a couple of weeks. A list of tour dates can be found below.

The western Canadian tour is the result of Jahnke’s encounter last January with one of her favourite comedians - Daryl Lenox - Reilly-Roe’s husband. Lenox was not joking when he suggested his wife, an up-and-coming New York pop singer/songwriter, ‘pay her dues’ by touring Canada. In exchange, Jahnke will tour New York and area next year with Reilly-Roe.

“Naturally, at first, I thought he was kidding,” remembers Jahnke. “After chatting with Clair, who is originally from Ottawa, she told me that she has never experienced touring ‘like a Canadian’ across long, long stretches of land with little to no population. It’s a rite of passage for most Canadian musicians.”

For Jahnke, this is the first regional tour since the release last fall of her highly acclaimed album The Stories are Taking Their Toll.  The album has produced a few high-profile tracks. “Sweetie Pie” was a semi-finalist in this year’s International Songwriting Competition.  “Apple” was chosen as the theme song for the hit NBC web series Ctrl. And "You Do Me Wrong,” won best original score at the 168 Hour Film Festival in Los Angeles, CA.
