Born in 1984 and hailing from the small prairie town of Woodlands, MB Canada, Emma Cloney is a singer/songwriter and a multi-instrumentalist new to Manitoba’s Folk music scene. Her music has been described as “emotive, powerful, and soulful”. Emma’s soaring vocals and lyrical imagery connect listeners to the vein of a cathartic folk music journey. “She was shockingly good -- prairie folk roots, Celtic-sounding voice” Winnipeg Free Press Aug 27th 2010.
Following local exposure to Manitoba’s live music scene, Emma has just finished recording a self-titled album at Studio 11 out of Winnipeg, with guests Dan Frechette and Jeremy Rusu. The album features a sampling of Emma’s diverse original works.
When not playing music, Emma is a full-time nursing student at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, as well as a proud mother of two and horse rancher. Living out of tow has its advantages, as the prairie flavour of Emma’s song-writing reflects a love for the wheat-fields in which she has made her home.
After a long break from the music world to start a family, Emma has returned with a mature sound and lyrics that take listeners on a journey.
